In the hands of artist JARB Mongkol Srithanawiroj, the iconic Little Heavy Chair designed by Ron Arad transforms into a nostalgic portal to the past. Inspired by the artist’s fascination with late 80s and 90s art, culture, and design, the metallic chair becomes a vehicle for exploring childhood memories of scientific theories.
Mongkol’s artwork delves into the concept of time travel, using the Little Heavy Chair as a symbol of both futuristic innovation and nostalgic yearning. The chair’s sleek metallic form juxtaposes with the artist’s vibrant city-pop style, creating a captivating visual dialogue between the past and the future. A subtle shadow of a “Nostalgia Surfer” a character he created emerges from the artwork, inviting viewers on a journey through time. This enigmatic figure represents the artist’s own nostalgic connection to the past, while also hinting at the boundless possibilities of the future.
